Delorean Performs at Battle of the Bands
On Saturday October 9, 2004 the first annual
Battle of the Bands competition was held on the parking decks in
downtown North Wilkesboro, NC. This event was a fundraiser for
Tiffany's Place and Historic Downtown North Wilkesboro. 20 professional
and amateur bands participated in the competition before a crowd of
over 2000. The types of music ranged from heavy metal, R&B, to
Christian Rock.
The WB network was on hand to film the event for the
television show " Fast Track to Fame ". Jason Carlton, of GoWilkes.com, one of the organizers
for the competition, stated this is a 13 segment show to be aired
in the Southeast sometime in the future.
A Christian hard rock band from Archdale, The 7 Method, was
awarded the best professional rock band.
$1000 was the prize for first place in this event.
The winner of best instrumentals was Delorean, a group from
Carrboro, NC. Best vocals went to "Little Miss Messy" of Durham.
The winner of the amateur competition was a group from Chapel
Hill, NC. "Eyes to Space" was awarded the $100 prize for best amateur
performance. Other participants in the competition were Three Quarters Dead.
